Silvano CINCOTTI - Professor

Silvano Cincotti is professor of Economics and Financial Engineering at the University of Genoa. He graduated in Electronic Engineering (summa cum laude) at the University of Genoa in 1990. From 1990 to 1993 he was a Ph.D. student at the Politecnico di Milano. He was awarded a Ph.D. (Dottorato di Ricerca) in Bioengineering in 1994. In 1992 he was visiting researcher at the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Polymerforschung of Mainz, Germany. From 1993 to 1998 he was assistan professor at the University of Cagliari. From 1998 to 2004 he was associate professor at the University of Genoa.

  • Silvano Cincotti is Head of MIG group at DIME and is also co-founder and Head of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Economics and Financial Engineering (CINEF). From 2008 to 2012 he was Deputy-Dean of the School of Engineering, University of Genoa.
    The scientific activity has regarded theoretical and experimental aspects that have been carried on within national and international project grants. Under this respect, he has been Coordinator of the EU IST-FET Strep Project EURACE (2006-2009),partner of the EU NEST-PATHFINDER Strep Project COMPLEXMARKET (2005-2008) and member of the steering board of the Italian HUB of the EU-FET Flagship FuturICT. Silvano Cincotti is the author of more then 180 scientific articles (mostly published on international journals), member of scientific committees and invited speaker of several international conferences and congresses. Since 1991 he served as reviewer to the international scientific community. He is presently associate editor of the Journal of Economic Interaction and Coordination, of the Journal of Economic Interaction and Coordination and of the International Journal on Complexity Economics. He is chairperson of the PhD program in Computational Economics and Finance at the University of Genoa. He is member of the Associazione italiana di Ingegneria Gestionale - AiIG, of the Society for Computational Economics SCE, of the Society for the Economic Sciences of Heterogeneous Interacting Agents ESHIA and of the IEEE Technical Committee on Computational Finance and Economics.
